Tripoli: Following a meeting with Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, the Head of the European Union Mission to Libya, Nicola Orlando, emphasized the European Union's ongoing commitment to supporting Libya's political process and strengthening its national unity. This meeting marked the end of Orlando's tenure as the head of the EU Mission to Libya.

According to Libyan News Agency, Orlando highlighted the significance of supporting the UN-sponsored political process, which seeks to advance Libya towards holding national elections, renewing institutional legitimacy, and fortifying national unity. This support builds upon the outcomes of a recent 'mini-conference' and other international initiatives focused on Libya's progress.

Orlando also mentioned that discussions during the meeting centered on deepening the EU-Libya partnership and reviewing progress in areas of shared interest. He acknowledged the Government of National Unity's efforts to unify the national budget, enhance transparency and accountability, and support economic and social development, which contribute to the national dialogue and the reunification of state institutions.

Orlando reiterated the European Union's readiness to continue supporting Libya in mutual areas of interest, expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Dbeibah and his government for their cooperative dialogue and openness with the EU throughout his tenure.

As he concluded his service in Libya, Orlando expressed hopes for a stronger EU-Libya partnership and wished the Libyan people success in building a future marked by stability, unity, prosperity, and peace.
