Nineveh: The Governor of Nineveh, Abdul Qader Al-Dakhil, announced the launch of practical procedures to select a reputable international company to manage and operate Mosul International Airport, stressing that this step comes within the efforts of the federal and local governments to enhance the airport’s role as a strategic hub for economic growth and regional openness.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Dakhil stated that the first meeting of the committee formed by ministerial order was dedicated to setting the criteria for selecting the operating company, with the participation of representatives from the Iraqi Airports Authority, the Civil Aviation Authority, and the Governorate’s Office.
He added that the committee has been tasked with preparing the technical requirements and standards within 72 hours, in preparation for evaluating the bids of 12 companies, most of them leading international firms, in addition to local companies. He noted that the final recommendations will be submitted to the Council of Ministers before September 1 for approval.
The Governor emphasized that contracting a specialized and reputable company to operate the airport would be a significant achievement credited to Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani’s government as well as the local administration in Nineveh. He also pointed out that the airport will provide both domestic and international flights, contributing to economic revitalization and strengthening Nineveh’s regional connections.
