The Criminal Court in Najaf issued a life imprisonment sentence against a former officer in the governorate's emergency regiment, on charges of possession and drug trafficking.
A security source said, "The court issued a life sentence and a fine of 20 million dinars against a former officer in the Najaf Emergency Regiment, in accordance with the provisions of Article 28 of the Narcotics Law."
He explained that "the former officer was arrested in his possession of 230 grams of opium, in addition to an electronic scale and tools for drug use with the intent of trading."
