Misrata Municipal Council Engages with UNSMIL Leadership

Misrata: The Mayor and members of the Misrata Municipal Council today received the Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Hanna Tetteh, her Deputy for Political Affairs, Stephanie Khoury, and their accompanying delegation. During the meeting, the importance of openness to the international community and its role in supporting stability and enhancing development efforts was emphasized.

According to Libyan News Agency, the Mayor and members of the Municipal Council affirmed their firm support for the UN mission’s path and the outcomes of the Advisory Committee of Twenty. They emphasized the importance of continued coordination to achieve common goals in building the state. The mission plans to hold a series of meetings with elites, social figures, and notables in the municipality, alongside discussions with several members of the House of Representatives and the Council of State to exchange views on the latest political developments and paths to a national solution.

The municipality stated that this visit comes within the context of the United Nations’ support for local efforts and strengthening national dialogue among various Libyan components.
