Tripoli: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has reaffirmed the Government of National Unity’s steadfast commitment to supporting Sudan’s security, stability, and territorial integrity. The ministry has called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and emphasized the importance of achieving a peaceful resolution to halt the bloodshed and restore security for the Sudanese people.
According to Libyan News Agency, the ministry issued a statement following a press release from the Office of the Spokesperson for the Sudanese Armed Forces. The release addressed reports regarding the involvement of a Libyan armed group in attacks on Sudanese army positions near the shared borders of Libya, Sudan, and Egypt.
The statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that, based on information from relevant authorities, the group in question is not affiliated with the Libyan Ministry of Defense and operates independently of the Libyan Army’s General Staff.
Furthermore, the ministry expressed strong condemnation and complete rejection of any involvement of Libyan citizens in activities that threaten the security and stability of neighboring countries. It also stressed that individuals and groups found participating in such operations would be held legally and criminally accountable.
