Tripoli: Libya’s recent election to the Governing Body of the International Labour Organization (ILO) has been hailed as a significant milestone in the nation’s commitment to improving labor practices. Ulrika Richardson, the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), emphasized the importance of this development, describing it as both a recognition of Libya’s dedication and a chance to contribute to the establishment of fair labor standards.
According to Libyan News Agency, Richardson expressed her views in a tweet following a meeting with Libya’s Minister of Labor and Rehabilitation and Acting Minister of Education, Ali Al-Abed. During their discussions, Richardson reaffirmed the United Nations’ readiness to assist Libya in its efforts to enhance its labor market.
The meeting focused on aligning Libya’s employment needs with its vocational education and training systems, aiming to equip young Libyans with the skills required for success in the labor sector.
