Tripoli: A seminar focusing on the political effectiveness of Libyan women commenced today at the Tripoli International Fair under the slogan “Women Decide – Hearts Unite – The Path Changes.” The event is organized by the Moroccan Girl Office of the Maghreb Agency for Youth Activities of the General Secretariat of the Arab Maghreb, in collaboration with the Women’s Office of the Agency and the Cultural Forum of the Libyan Academy for Graduate Studies.
According to Libyan News Agency, the symposium gathered academics, writers, women’s activists, representatives of women’s groups and councils, alongside an elite group of sheikhs and dignitaries, individuals invested in national reconciliation, and representatives from countries of the Arab Maghreb Union. The gathering aims to emphasize the role of women as pivotal contributors to political, social, and economic stability in Libya. By leveraging women’s experiences in peacebuilding, the symposium seeks to find innovative solutions to the country’s ongoing political challenges, ultimately shaping a future that aligns with the aspirations of all Libyans.
Key discussions at the symposium revolve around the effectiveness of Libyan women in decision-making processes, enhancing their participation in power structures, and promoting cultural and social development to reinforce identity. Additionally, the role of women in establishing a sustainable economy is a focal point.
The symposium aims to develop a national plan to boost the participation of Libyan women in peacebuilding efforts. It also seeks to create a national platform connecting academic institutions with research centers to initiate development projects. Efforts will be made to establish a database of female creators and researchers to protect intellectual rights and link them to global platforms. Furthermore, the event emphasizes the importance of utilizing electronic media to document women’s intellectual contributions over time and enhancing women’s roles in managing Libya’s economy at all levels. The initiative also focuses on advancing women’s capabilities through education and training, boosting their influence in academia, and fostering encouragement through public and private institutions to adopt and support their ideas.
