Ankara: A joint Libyan security team from eastern and western Libya has successfully concluded a series of coordination visits to border security centers in Trkiye. The Joint Technical Coordination Team for Border Security, which includes senior officers from Libya's military and security bodies, visited Ankara from January 26 to 31 to engage in specialized exchanges with Turkish counterparts.
According to Libyan News Agency, the visits were facilitated by the Republic of Turkey in collaboration with the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL). The initiative combined Turkish technical expertise with UNSMIL's coordination efforts to foster enhanced cooperation among Libyan security institutions. The delegation engaged in multiple discussions with departments within the Turkish Ministry of Defense and Ministry of the Interior, alongside the Joint Technical Coordination Team.
UNSMIL emphasized that the visit plays a crucial role in bolstering coordination and trust among Libyan security entities. It strengthens practical collaboration within security and military institutions and aids in creating a supportive environment for Libya's political process. Additionally, Turkey's position as co-chair of the security working group from the Berlin process underscores the international community's support for Libya's efforts in unifying institutions and enhancing regional security.
