Deputy UN Representative Engages in Talks with Libyan Planning Minister

Tripoli: The Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Resident Coordinator, Ulrika Richardson, met with the Minister of Planning of the Government of National Unity, Mohamed Al-Zaidani, to discuss ways to strengthen the partnership between the United Nations and national authorities and institutions.

According to Libyan News Agency, the UN mission stated on its official page that both sides affirmed their commitment to continuing joint efforts within the framework of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation (UNSDCF). This cooperation supports national development priorities, enhances institutional coherence, and contributes to consolidating long-term stability in Libya.

They emphasized the importance of development as a fundamental approach to addressing the root causes of the chronic challenges facing Libya. This includes strengthening governance, combating corruption, and addressing illicit flows such as fuel, drug, and arms smuggling, as well as human trafficking. These efforts aim to achieve tangible development and peace benefits for all Libyans.
