Tripoli: The Libyan Intelligence Service has issued a strong condemnation of the recent kidnapping, assault, and restriction of freedom of one of its senior members. The kidnapped individual, an officer and director of one of the intelligence departments, faces significant threats to his safety, which has alarmed his family, impacted the agency, and posed a threat to all its employees, as per a statement from the agency. According to Libyan News Agency, the intelligence service has labeled the act as a crime under Libyan law and has assured that those responsible will face justice through the Libyan judicial system. The agency has further warned the kidnappers against continuing any actions that threaten the safety or freedom of the abducted officer, pledging to exhaust all efforts to ensure his safe return. Members of the Central Security Department and Branch Affairs within the agency have also condemned the kidnapping of Brigadier General Mustafa Ali Al-Wahishi, the director of the department. They have emphasized holding the kidnappers fully legally accountable for the consequences of their actions.
