Abuja: The delegation from the General Authority for Communications and Informatics took part in the 7th Plenipotentiary Conference of the African Telecommunications Union (ATU) in Abuja, Nigeria. The event focused on adopting the ATU's strategic and financial plan and electing the Secretary-General for the next term.
According to Libyan News Agency, the Libyan delegation, led by Rafiq Al-Janjan, Director of the Experts Office at the Authority, included Osama Abu-Azza, Head of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Follow-up Unit at the International Cooperation Office. The conference reviewed and adopted the ATU's final report and strategic and financial plan to advance the telecommunications sector and promote digital transformation across Africa.
On the sidelines, the Libyan delegation engaged in bilateral meetings with other delegations, aiming to strengthen cooperation in communications and informatics and secure support for Libya's candidacy for ITU Council membership. The Authority's participation underscores its commitment to enhancing Libya's regional and international presence and expanding partnerships to support the development of the communications and informatics sector and digital transformation initiatives.
