Tripoli: The Ministry of Defense of the Government of National Unity has announced the approval of a salary increase for members of the Libyan Army. This decision follows the submission and subsequent approval of a proposal by the Ministry to the Prime Minister's office, impacting various military and administrative ranks within the armed forces.
According to Libyan News Agency, the Ministry shared on its official page that the salary increase received the attention and support of the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, with significant contributions from the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense and the Chief of the General Staff. The proposal concerning the salary increase was signed and approved on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
The Ministry detailed that the salary increase encompasses officers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers, civilian employees, and the families of martyrs who have reached retirement age. This decision acknowledges the efforts and sacrifices made by the armed forces in safeguarding the nation and ensuring its security and stability.
Furthermore, the Ministry emphasized that the proposal also addresses the circumstances of those currently serving who are eligible for retirement, ensuring that this group is not overlooked. This approach ensures fair entitlements for all members of the armed forces.
