Libyan-American Economic Forum Set for Next May in Benghazi

Benghazi: The Director General of the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund, Engineer Belqasim Khalifa Haftar, engaged in discussions with the US Special Envoy for the Middle East and North Africa, Massad Boulos, regarding the coordination mechanisms and preparations for the second Libyan-American Forum, which is slated to take place in Benghazi next May. The forum aims to bolster bilateral cooperation and support efforts in development and reconstruction within Libya.



According to Libyan News Agency, the discussions occurred during Engineer Haftar’s meeting with Special Envoy Boulos, Jeremy Berndt, Charg© d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Libya, and their delegation. The primary focus was on enhancing bilateral relations and exploring cooperative areas of mutual interest.



The two sides also examined prospects for collaboration between the Fund and the United States, concentrating on development, reconstruction, and infrastructure projects. This partnership seeks to promote stability, achieve sustainable development, and improve the quality of services provided to citizens across various regions.



The meeting further highlighted the coordination mechanisms and preparations necessary for the upcoming Libyan-American Forum. The forum is regarded as a vital platform for enhancing economic and investment partnerships and expanding cooperation between Libyan institutions and American entities in reconstruction and development sectors.



US envoy Massad Boulos and Jeremy Berndt expressed their appreciation for the efforts directed towards reconstruction, reaffirming the United States’ commitment to supporting initiatives that foster joint cooperation, expedite development, and ensure the success of the forthcoming forum, ultimately serving the mutual interests of both nations.
