Addis ababa: Libya was elected today as the First Vice-Chair of the Bureau of the African Union’s Specialized Technical Committee on Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons. This election took place during the opening session of the committee’s fifth ordinary session at the expert level, setting the stage for the upcoming ministerial meeting scheduled for November 13 and 14 in Addis Ababa.
According to Libyan News Agency, Libya’s delegation, led by Mohammed Zeidan, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Expatriate Affairs and Chairman of the Committee on Irregular Migration at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, is actively participating at both the ministerial and expert levels. The delegation also includes members from the Libyan Permanent Mission to the African Union.
The committee’s agenda involves examining various issues related to the African Union’s policy regarding migrants and internally displaced persons, aiming to address and develop strategies for ongoing and future challenges in these areas.
