Tripoli: Presidential Council member Abdullah Al-Lafi met today with Abdullah bin Dakhil Allah Al-Salmi, the Charg© d’Affaires of the Saudi Embassy in Libya, at the Council’s headquarters in Tripoli. The discussions focused on the latest political developments in Libya and strategies to resolve the ongoing political stalemate.
According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting highlighted the necessity to overcome the current deadlock and to work towards a comprehensive political settlement. This settlement aims to conclude transitional phases and restore stability by supporting the UN mission’s plan and advancing a roadmap that leads to elections and the unification of state institutions.
Al-Lafi reiterated the Presidential Council’s dedication to the national reconciliation project. He underscored the importance of unifying the military institution and ensuring the withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libyan territory, which he believes are crucial steps for bolstering national sovereignty and maintaining security and stability in Libya and the broader region.
Al-Salmi, representing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, affirmed the Kingdom’s support for efforts aimed at stabilizing and unifying Libya. He conveyed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to enhancing cooperation and coordination in various sectors, benefiting both nations and reinforcing the path of security and development across the region.
