Libya and Iraq Discuss Strengthening Protocol Cooperation and Activating Joint Committee

Tripoli: Libya and Iraq have initiated discussions aimed at enhancing protocol cooperation and reactivating the joint committee between the two nations. The Director of the General Protocol Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Taher Hussein, hosted Dr. Ahmed Naama Al-Sahaf, the Charg© d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to Libya, at the ministry's headquarters.

According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting focused on improving joint coordination in protocol matters, which is expected to advance diplomatic work mechanisms between Libya and Iraq. Dr. Al-Sahaf underscored the significance of supporting the Iraqi embassy's operations by bolstering coordination with Libya's Protocol Department. This enhanced cooperation is aimed at facilitating diplomatic tasks, improving institutional performance, and fostering stronger bilateral relations. It will also aid in the ongoing arrangements to activate the Libyan-Iraqi Joint Committee, a crucial framework for expanding cooperation, especially in economic, investment, and service sectors.

Taher Hussein, representing the Libyan side, affirmed Libya's readiness to support the convening of committee meetings at the earliest opportunity. This move is intended to further develop bilateral relations and align them with the aspirations of both nations.

In closing, both parties reiterated the importance of sustained communication and joint coordination. They stressed the need for continued diplomatic and protocol collaboration between Libya's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Libya, to serve the mutual interests of both countries.
