Tripoli: The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy and Trade, Suhail Abu Shiha, met with Liu Jian, Charg© d’Affaires of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Libya, to explore opportunities for enhancing economic cooperation and trade relations between Libya and China.
According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting, held at the Ministry of Economy headquarters in Tripoli, focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and advancing partnership programs between the two nations. Discussions also covered facilitating the operations of Chinese companies in various sectors within Libya.
The Undersecretary highlighted the Government of National Unity’s strategic vision for the renewable energy sector. He emphasized the benefits provided by special economic zones aimed at export-oriented joint investment projects. This initiative is part of the Ministry’s broader efforts to foster international partnerships, support Libya’s reconstruction efforts, and promote sustainable economic growth.
Both parties acknowledged the strong and evolving Libyan-Chinese relations across political, economic, and developmental dimensions. They reaffirmed their commitment to expanding these relations further.
The meeting was also attended by several key officials, including Ashraf Al-Taib, Director of the International Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hisham Bouden, Director of the Strategic Studies and Research Department, and Hassan Al-Kamel, Director of the Private Sector Development Department at the Ministry of Economy and Trade.
