Kufra: The Kufra Municipality has refuted claims about the entry of over one million Sudanese refugees into Libya, labeling such reports as inaccurate. The Director of the Municipality’s Media Office, Abdullah Suleiman, clarified in press statements that the figures being circulated do not reflect the reality, indicating a significantly lower number.

According to Libyan News Agency, Suleiman highlighted the challenges in monitoring the Libyan borders, which complicates the ability to ascertain the exact number of Sudanese refugees arriving in the country following the armed conflict in Sudan. Despite these challenges, he confirmed that more than 120,000 health certificates have already been issued to Sudanese refugees by the Kufra Municipality.

Suleiman further stated that while the arrival of Sudanese refugees is ongoing, the rates at which they enter the country vary. This ongoing movement underscores the fluid nature of the refugee situation at the Libyan border.
