Tripoli: The first joint meeting of the chiefs of staff for the Air Force, Navy, and Air Defense from both the eastern and western regions concluded in Sirte this Wednesday evening. This initiative is aimed at affirming state sovereignty and advancing efforts to unify the military institution.
According to Libyan News Agency, the chiefs of staff discussed enhancing cooperation and integration across military sectors, with a primary focus on strengthening state sovereignty. A joint action program was agreed upon, with each branch's command tasked with developing an implementation plan to meet the program's objectives.
The action plan includes training and maneuvers, specifically through coordinated joint military exercises and tactical projects to improve field performance. It also involves cooperation in armament, modernization of weapons and equipment, and the exchange of expertise and capabilities between forces.
The meeting also addressed logistical coordination, including the exchange of spare parts and securing necessary military supplies, along with sharing expertise and coordinating military training and qualification programs through specialized military colleges and schools.
The participants decided to continue holding coordination meetings involving other bodies, departments, and staff commands. These steps reflect a national desire to build a unified military institution capable of protecting the country and its resources and sovereignty. This meeting implements outcomes from a previous meeting of the Chiefs of General Staff in Sirte last July, attended by General Khaled Khalifa Haftar and General Dr. Salah Al-Namroush, which aimed at enhancing military cooperation and coordination.
In line with the agreements, Sirte is set to host monthly meetings involving various departments, bodies, and specialized staff commands.
