High Council of State Reaffirms Support for UN-Led Political Process in Libya

Tripoli: The High Council of State has reiterated its support for the United Nations-led initiative aimed at unifying political institutions in Libya. In a letter addressed to the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), the Council, led by President Mohamed Takala, underscored the importance of adhering to political agreements to foster unity and stability.

According to Libyan News Agency, the official communication emphasized the necessity for all parties to respect previous political accords and avoid unilateral actions that could jeopardize national consensus. The Council highlighted the critical role of consensus among Libyan parties under the guidance of the United Nations as a cornerstone for political solutions.

The Council also expressed its commitment to the constitutional and electoral processes as essential pathways to conducting comprehensive elections. Such elections are viewed as pivotal in ending the transitional phases and achieving political stability in Libya. The Council called for unified efforts among official institutions to ensure the success of this electoral process.

Moreover, the Council issued a warning regarding the risks posed by continued institutional division, emphasizing the potential political and security consequences. It urged for enhanced coordination among relevant parties to maintain the unity and stability of the state.
