Tripoli: The High Council of State convened in Tripoli to finalize the election of members for the Board of Directors of the High National Elections Commission. The session, led by the President of the High Council of State, Mohamed Takala, successfully reached a quorum with 84 members in attendance.

According to Libyan News Agency, Takala emphasized that the authority to change the Board of Directors of the High National Elections Commission rests solely with the House of Representatives and the High Council of State, and no external party should interfere in this process. He expressed the Council's commitment to negotiating and reaching a consensus on any political framework or agreement aimed at unifying institutions.

Takala also underlined the importance of neutrality from the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) in its interactions with political bodies. The session follows the recent election of Salah al-Kamishi as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of the High National Elections Commission, replacing Emad al-Sayeh, in a session held last Monday.
