Head of European Mission and Central Bank Governor Discuss Economic Challenges in Libya

Tripoli: The Governor of the Central Bank, Naji Issa, held discussions with Ambassador Nicola Orlando, the Head of the European Union Delegation to Libya, focusing on the challenges confronting the Libyan economy. The talks emphasized the urgent need to stabilize the currency and manage inflation against the backdrop of increasing public spending.

According to Libyan News Agency, Ambassador Orlando highlighted the significance of fiscal responsibility among all institutions. He stressed the necessity for the House of Representatives to implement a unified, transparent, and accountable spending framework. The discussions underlined the importance of maintaining the independence, integrity, and effectiveness of Libya’s economic and regulatory institutions, starting with the Central Bank, as crucial to the country’s future.
