Baghdad: Head of the Azm Alliance in Baghdad, MP Mahmoud Hussein Al-Qaisi, has called for an end to abuses against employees ahead of the upcoming elections, specifically highlighting the misuse of mosques and religious platforms for political and electoral purposes.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Qaisi, in a recent statement, expressed concern over the phenomenon of abusing power against employees for political motives, drawing attention to its seriousness, which he equates with the danger of purchasing electoral cards. He highlighted that using public office as a tool for settling scores diminishes citizens’ trust in the state and undermines the principle of equal opportunity.
Al-Qaisi has urged the Prime Minister to issue an immediate directive to halt any transfer, deportation, or dismissal orders against employees until the electoral process concludes. This measure, he argues, is essential to protect workers’ rights and ensure institutional neutrality.
He further emphasized the sanctity of mosques, stating they should remain places for worship and religious rituals, not venues for electoral competition. Al-Qaisi criticized actions taken against imams and preachers, describing them as unfair and politically motivated, and called for their immediate cessation to safeguard the rights of employees and state institutions from electoral pressures.
