Tripoli: Hannah Tetteh, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya, conducted a consultative meeting with fifteen representatives from various regions in the western part of the country. The meeting focused on the security situation and the development of a political roadmap for Libya.
According to Libyan News Agency, the UN mission released a statement on its Facebook page detailing that the gathering aimed to facilitate discussions on the security landscape and encourage the exchange of ideas for advancing a political agenda. The meeting, held at the mission’s headquarters, included mayors and notable social figures.
The mission reported that participants emphasized the importance of concluding the transitional phase. They insisted that any political process should advance in a setting devoid of security tensions. Additionally, the attendees proposed the withdrawal of weapons from Tripoli to safeguard civilian lives and suggested that state security institutions should ensure the capita
l’s security.
