Guterres Urges Immediate Lifting of Gaza Blockade Amid Humanitarian Crisis

Baghdad: UN Secretary-General Ant³nio Guterres has declared that the situation faced by Palestinians in Gaza has surpassed all limits of cruelty, rendering words insufficient to describe the ongoing horror.

According to Libyan News Agency, Guterres, speaking in Baghdad, emphasized that the policy of blockade and starvation imposed on Gaza is a clear disregard for international law. He called for the immediate lifting of the blockade to allow humanitarian aid to enter the region.

Tom Fletcher, Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, also issued a statement urging for the rapid, safe, and unhindered delivery of aid to civilians in need. He highlighted the capability and readiness of the United Nations and its humanitarian partners to deliver aid on the necessary scale to save lives across Gaza.

Fletcher reiterated that the United Nations and its partners have the required personnel, distribution networks, and trust within local communities to ensure that aid is delivered effectively. He stressed that aid is ready to be dispatched immediately.
