Tripoli:The Minister of State for Prime Ministerial and Cabinet Affairs, Mohamed Ben Ghalbon, has issued a directive to government-affiliated entities regarding the extension of employees' tenure.
According to Libyan News Agency, Ben Ghalbon's circular mandates that any extension of service must strictly adhere to existing civil service legislation and regulations. Ministers, as well as heads and directors of various government bodies, are instructed not to extend an employee's tenure without compliance with legal provisions and necessary approvals from competent authorities.
The directive also requires the identification of employees nearing the end of their service term or approaching statutory retirement age. Comprehensive data on these employees must be prepared, and requests for service extensions should be submitted to the Cabinet well before the expiration date. These requests must be justified with an assessment of the public entity's need for the employee's continued service.
Ben Ghalbon emphasized that any permitted service extension must align with the actual operational needs of the entity, and the requesting entities are accountable for the accuracy of the data and justifications provided. Furthermore, employees are not allowed to continue working past their service term without a valid legal decision.
