Beirut: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants announced in an issued statement today that it is following up with concern on the developments and situation in Mali, in wake of arising security and political tensions, an economic crisis, and a shortage of energy and fuel.
According to National news agency – Lebanon, the Ministry is actively contacting relevant authorities to monitor the situation of approximately 3,000 Lebanese citizens in Mali, in coordination with the Charg© d’Affaires at the Lebanese Embassy in Liberia, which serves as a non-resident embassy in Mali.
The Ministry has requested that the Charg© d’Affaires maintain close monitoring of the situation and enhance diplomatic communication with embassies of influential countries in Mali. It was also stated that the Director of Political and Consular Affairs met with the Honorary Consul of Lebanon in Mali to discuss ways to address the crisis and safeguard the interests of the Lebanese community. The Consul was asked to continue efforts to maintain effective communication with Lebanese residents in Mali, follow up on their affairs, and provide information and support during this challenging period.
