Ezzedine Al-Gharabi Chosen as Mayor of Benghazi

Benghazi: Elected municipal council member Suad Al-Oraibi announced today, Monday, that Ezzedine Al-Gharabi was nominated as mayor of Benghazi at the headquarters of the High National Elections Commission - Major Electoral Administration Office. According to Libyan News Agency, Al-Gharabi explained that the selection was by acclamation, as he was the sole candidate for the position, and with the approval of all members. She noted that the relevant organizational procedures had been completed and the official documents had been submitted. She explained that Al-Gharabi's selection comes within the framework of a new phase for the Benghazi municipality, expressing her hope that the coming period will be one of construction and development, relying on national talent and expertise to advance the city. The municipal council member confirmed that he is expected to begin work within the Benghazi municipality in the near future, likely at the beginning of next week.
