EU Delegation and Diplomatic Missions Applaud Libya’s 4+4 Mini-Dialogue Agreement

Tripoli: The European Union Delegation and diplomatic missions of EU member states in Libya have expressed their approval of the recently signed agreement by the 4+4 Joint Military Commission.

According to Libyan News Agency, the EU Delegation and European Union Missions in Libya released a statement acknowledging the significance of the agreement, which was facilitated by a UN mini-meeting. This agreement focuses on the restructuring of the High National Elections Commission's board and refining the electoral framework.

The statement outlined that the agreement marks a crucial step towards the unification of institutions and sets a foundation for fair national elections. The Libyan participants were commended for their constructive approach and political responsibility towards achieving a national consensus.

The EU's statement urged the House of Representatives and the High Council of State to actively engage with the outcomes of the mini-meeting and to implement the necessary steps without delay. It also emphasized the importance for all Libyan institutions and stakeholders to capitalize on this progress to foster consensus and steer the nation towards restoring legitimacy and institutional unity.

The EU Delegation and EU Missions in Libya reiterated their complete support for the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) and the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya, Hanna Tetteh, in facilitating a political process led by Libyans. They affirmed their commitment to supporting Libya's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
