Envoy Engages Libyan Representatives to Discuss Unified Government Formation

Benghazi: Members of the House of Representatives held a meeting today, Sunday, with the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Acting Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Stephanie Khoury, at the headquarters of the Council’s office in Benghazi. The meeting focused on the latest developments in the political situation in Libya, emphasizing the formation of a unified government to implement electoral commitments.

According to Libyan News Agency, the discussions revolved around finding ways to resolve the Libyan crisis by holding presidential and parliamentary elections. The aim is to establish a cohesive government structure throughout the country, which is crucial for addressing the political challenges Libya faces.

Another significant point on the agenda was the draft law on national reconciliation. This law is seen as a fundamental step towards enhancing political stability in Libya, aiming to unify various factions and foster a peaceful political environment.

The meeting saw the participation of several representatives, including Zayed Hadiya, Issa Al-Aribi, Idris Omran, Ezz El-Din Qwerib, Muhammad Tamer, Hamad Maqiq, Abdul Salam Shuha, Suleiman Al-Harari, Rabha Al-Farjani, and Intisar Sheneeb. Their involvement underlines the importance of collaborative efforts in achieving the goal of a unified Libyan government.
