Electoral Commission Annuls Election Results at Select Polling Stations Due to Violations

Tripoli: The High National Elections Commission (HNEC) has announced the annulment of certain results from the 2025 municipal council elections for the third group, following the identification of violations and irregularities at specific polling stations.

According to Libyan News Agency, the annulment affects four polling centers within the Sirte electoral district: Al-Farabi (individual/list), Al-Zafran (individual), Al-Majd (individual), and Gamal Abdel Nasser (individual). Additionally, the results from one center in the Al-Abyar electoral district, Abdel Hamid Al-Abbar (individual/list), have also been nullified.

The HNEC emphasized that this decision is within its legal jurisdiction and aims to safeguard the voters' intentions while ensuring transparency and equal opportunities for all candidates. It clarified that the results from other polling stations not impacted by this decision remain unaffected and valid.
