Egypt and Italy Hold Political Consultations on Libya

Rome:The Italian capital hosted a round of Egyptian-Italian consultations focused on developments in Libya. The discussions involved the assistant foreign ministers of Egypt and Italy, Basel Salah and Maurizio Greganti.

According to Libyan News Agency, these consultations were part of a regular mechanism for dialogue between Egypt and Italy concerning Libya. The previous session took place in Cairo last January, where discussions centered on the latest developments in Libya and strategies to support a comprehensive and sustainable resolution to the Libyan crisis.

During the talks, both countries emphasized the importance of strengthening coordination among regional and international parties to unify their positions on the challenges posed by the crisis to neighboring countries. They agreed on the necessity of involving all relevant Libyan parties in international and regional efforts, to prevent the marginalization or exclusion of any group from the political process.

Furthermore, Egypt and Italy expressed their opposition to foreign interference in Libya's internal affairs and underscored the need for foreign mercenaries to withdraw from Libyan territory. They also highlighted the importance of adhering to international law concerning maritime boundary demarcation.
