Director of Interior Office Discusses Migrant Return with Bangladeshi Ambassador

Tripoli: The Director of the Office of the Minister of Interior, Major General Abdul Wahid Abdul Samad, held a meeting with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Libya, Abu al-Hasanat Muhammad Khair al-Bashar, to discuss the facilitation of the voluntary return of illegal migrants from the Bangladeshi community in Libya.

According to Libyan News Agency, the Ministry of Interior stated that the meeting was part of ongoing joint coordination efforts between the Ministry and the Bangladeshi Embassy. The discussions focused on increasing the number of flights within the voluntary return program and addressing the administrative and logistical challenges that migrants may encounter, ensuring that returns are conducted humanely and systematically.

Major General Abdul Samad reiterated the Ministry’s dedication to assisting with return procedures by working with relevant authorities and supporting humanitarian initiatives to improve migrant conditions, adhering to Libyan laws and international standards.

Ambassador al-Bashar expressed his gratitude for the Ministry’s cooperation, confirming the embassy’s willingness to continue coordination efforts, expedite flights, and facilitate the organized voluntary return of Bangladeshi citizens.
