Tripoli: The head of the interim Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbaiba, delivered a strong message during a regular cabinet meeting, cautioning key figures within the Libyan political landscape about actions that could potentially destabilize the nation. Addressing specific individuals, including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh; the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Marai al-Barassi; and the Chairman of the Reconstruction Fund, Belqasim Haftar, Dbaiba accused them of actions that undermine the integrity of Libya.
According to Libyan News Agency, Dbaiba emphasized that the conflict these individuals are engaged in is not against the Government of National Unity, but rather a struggle within the Libyan state itself. He insisted that any disruption to the current system could have far-reaching consequences, potentially leading to the state’s collapse. He reiterated his stance that the conflict is not about individual or governmental opposition, but about safeguarding the Libyan state’s existence.
Dbaiba further criticized the focus of the conflict, which he stated revolves around economic issues such as salaries, grants, bonuses, and pensions. He warned that such disputes are jeopardizing the livelihood of citizens and eroding international confidence in Libya. By challenging these actions, Dbaiba stressed that the conflict risks dismantling the state system designed to protect Libya’s sovereignty. He concluded with a firm declaration that he will continue to speak out against these actions that threaten the nation’s stability.
