Belhaig Announces Proposals for Election Commission Vote

Tripoli: The official spokesman for the House of Representatives, Abdullah Belhaig, announced that House Speaker and Counselor Aguila Saleh put forward two proposals during Monday's session for a vote concerning the Board of Directors of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC).

According to Libyan News Agency, Belhaig stated that Aguila Saleh presented two options for a vote: either approving the proposal of the High Council of State, or approving the outcomes of the 4+4 Committee. He noted that the House unanimously voted to adopt the 4+4 Committee's recommendations regarding the Elections Commission, including the appointment of a new head of the commission and the addition of two members to its Board of Directors.

Belhaig further mentioned that the House of Representatives decided to form a committee of specialists, experts, and university professors to examine a proposal for a unified salary scale for state employees. Additionally, the House agreed to establish another committee of specialists, experts, and university professors to investigate why the decision to increase retirees' pensions had not been implemented. The session was subsequently adjourned.
