Tripoli: A delegation from the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Libyan Army, led by Chief of the Air Defense Forces, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Balouq, has wrapped up its participation in the 18th Ordinary Session of the African Union's Specialized Technical Committee on Defense, Safety and Security, held in the Republic of Burundi from September 15 to 18. According to Libyan News Agency, the General Staff of the Libyan Army announced on its official Facebook page that the meetings addressed several cross-border challenges and threats. Discussions also focused on strategies to bolster peace and stability and to enhance cooperation in defense and security at both regional and continental levels. During the session, Burundi took over the chairmanship of the Committee's Bureau, while Libya secured the role of Third Vice-Chair of the Bureau. This was part of Libya's engagement with the African Union mechanisms dedicated to defense, peace, and security.
