The 26th Arab International Cement and Building Materials Conference and Exhibition (AICCE26) kicked off in Cairo on Monday with the participation of 750 exhibitioners in 142 pavilions.

The AICCE26 is organized in coordination with the Council of Arab Economic Unity and the Council of Arab Ministers for Housing and Reconstruction between 15 and 17 January.

The cement sector is one of Egypt’s key industrial sectors, as it supplies basic needs for the infrastructure and urban projects in the country, Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir said in a statement.

Samir noted that Egypt is among the 10 biggest cement producers in the world with an annual output of 92 million tons.

Meanwhile, Nayef bin Sultan, head of the Arab Union for Cement and Building Materials, stated that the cement sector in Arab countries has seen major development in recent years, fulfilling local needs and creating a surplus for export.
