Tripoli: The Minister of Interior of the Government of National Unity, Emad Mustafa Al-Tarabulsi, attended the Lianyungang 2026 Global Cooperation and Public Security Forum in China, responding to an official invitation from the Chinese Minister of Public Security. The forum, held in the city of Lianyungang from September 8 to 10, gathered delegations from over 147 countries to discuss international security cooperation.
According to Libyan News Agency, the forum focused on enhancing international cooperation among security agencies and law enforcement bodies to address common security threats, such as terrorism and transnational organized crime. The forum emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts in tackling these global challenges.
The ministry highlighted that the discussions included mechanisms for exchanging information and expertise, assessing emerging security risks, and strengthening cybersecurity measures. Efforts to protect digital infrastructure and combat cybercrime were also primary points of focus, reflecting concerns over the rapid development of modern technologies.
The sessions covered a range of security issues, including drug-related crimes, immigration and border management, and the use of advanced technologies in security operations. Additionally, there was an emphasis on developing international police education and training programs and improving tourism security and international security services.
Participants examined the challenges posed by terrorist and criminal groups exploiting modern technologies, such as artificial intelligence, cryptocurrencies, and the dark web. The forum explored ways to enhance security capabilities and improve the efficiency of law enforcement agencies in addressing these threats.
The event brought together senior law enforcement officials, international organization representatives, and security experts and academics. It served as a platform for exchanging experiences and strengthening security coordination among participating countries.
