Al-Sayeh and UNDP Discuss Electoral Developments and Challenges in Libya

Tripoli: Chairman of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), Imad Al-Sayeh, met with Sophie Kimkhaddze, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Libya, to discuss the latest developments in the electoral process and the challenges facing the implementation of upcoming elections.

According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting focused on the technical and advisory support provided by the international community to the HNEC. This support is particularly aimed at enhancing the efficiency and credibility of electoral management and organization.

Kimkhaddze expressed appreciation for the efforts made by the HNEC throughout the electoral process. She affirmed the continued commitment of the UNDP, alongside donor countries, to support the democratic process in Libya. This support is intended to help create the appropriate conditions for holding free, transparent, and inclusive elections.

The HNEC indicated that the meeting is part of an effort to strengthen cooperation between the HNEC and its international partners. The aim is to build on past achievements and prepare for the next stages of the elections, ensuring a broad base of political participation.
