Tripoli: Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Hanna Tetteh, engaged in discussions with representatives of the associations of the Libyan political party regarding the current political and security situation, focusing on recent events in Tripoli.
According to Libyan News Agency, during the meeting held at the UNSMIL’s office in Tripoli, Tetteh emphasized the mission’s priority to prevent further violence. She highlighted the importance of upholding the right of the people to protest while ensuring the safety of demonstrators. The discussions also covered the need to advance an inclusive political process, drawing from the options recommended by the Advisory Committee and ongoing consultations with stakeholders, including the broader public.
Participants in the meeting expressed a shared desire to urgently establish an inclusive political process. They aimed for this process to lead to national elections and the formation of a united government.
