Al-Sayeh and British Ambassador Discuss Preparations for Libyan Municipal Council Elections

Tripoli: The Chairman of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), Emad Al-Sayeh, held a meeting today with the British Ambassador to Libya, Martin Reynolds, focusing on the preparations for the third round of municipal council elections.

According to Libyan News Agency, the discussions included the latest developments in the ongoing municipal council elections scheduled for 2025. The meeting addressed the HNEC’s readiness to implement the election phases while ensuring integrity and transparency. Both parties explored how the international community, including the United Kingdom, can support the HNEC’s efforts to bolster the democratic process in Libya.

The British Ambassador commended HNEC’s management and organization of the elections, affirming the UK’s full support for enhancing the electoral process, viewing it as crucial for achieving stability in Libya.

Concluding the meeting, Al-Sayeh expressed gratitude for the UK’s support and emphasized the importance of continued international coordination to ensure the elections successfully reflect the will of the Libyan people.
