Tripoli: Italy has renewed its commitment to supporting Libya’s stability and fostering a partnership rooted in trust and common interests. Italian Deputy Foreign Minister for International Cooperation, Giorgio Celli, highlighted the significance of the recent contract signing for the coastal road project between Emsaad and Ras Jedir, marking a strategic collaboration between the two nations.
According to Libyan News Agency, the agreement reflects a shared vision for a future built on cooperation, development, and mutual respect. Speaking at the signing ceremony in Tripoli, Celli remarked on the project’s origins in 2008, emphasizing its potential to connect the Arab East with the Arab West, thus promoting regional development and strengthening ties between Libya and its neighbors.
The Italian company tasked with implementing the western section of the road will work in parallel with efforts on the eastern section to ensure balanced progress. Celli underscored Italy’s commitment to Libya through initiatives like resuming flights between Tripoli and Benghazi and hosting joint economic forums. He described Libya as a vital economic and strategic partner, offering promising opportunities for Italian firms, especially in energy and infrastructure.
Expressing Italy’s dedication to Libya’s unity and stability, Celli emphasized the importance of peace and democracy for the Libyan people. He noted the alignment between Rome and Washington in supporting Libya and called for international efforts to foster peace and prosperity in the region.
