Tripoli: The assassination of presidential candidate Saif al-Islam Muammar Gaddafi has prompted a call for restraint from Mohammed Al-Menfi, Head of the Presidential Council. Al-Menfi emphasized the importance of closely monitoring the ongoing official investigations to ensure accountability.
According to Libyan News Agency, Al-Menfi expressed sorrow over the incident and referenced a statement from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, highlighting the importance of uncovering the circumstances surrounding the assassination. He stressed the need for transparency and technical support to expedite the investigation, aiming to bolster public confidence.
In his statement, Al-Menfi conveyed condolences to the Gaddafi family and the Gaddadfa tribe. He urged political, media, and social entities to moderate their discourse and resist incitement, emphasizing the assassination’s objective of disrupting national reconciliation and the electoral process.
Al-Menfi concluded with a strong message against violence, stating that Libya’s governance cannot be rooted in fear and that the sanctity of Libyan lives must be upheld.
