Tripoli: The President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, emphasized the regional importance of Libya’s national reconciliation efforts as he inaugurated the 7th meeting of the Preparatory Committee for the Reconciliation Project in Tripoli. The gathering included representatives from the African Union Mission, ambassadors from the High-Level Committee on Libya, and the United Nations Support Mission in Libya.
According to Libyan News Agency, Al-Menfi welcomed participants from the Preparatory Committee, African Union, diplomatic missions, and international organizations in his opening remarks. He highlighted the significance of the meeting, stating it was taking place at a crucial historical juncture for Libya. Al-Menfi asserted that national reconciliation transcends internal affairs, being pivotal to the security and stability of the wider region.
Al-Menfi underscored that the Presidential Council prioritizes national reconciliation as a foundational element for establishing a unified, secure state rooted in the rule of law and the respect for rights and freedoms. He acknowledged the international community, particularly the African Union, as a vital partner in this endeavor.
He further stated that achieving successful reconciliation requires sincere intent and brave compromises, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing national interests over narrow agendas.
