Tripoli: President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Menfi, has expressed his commitment to supporting United Nations initiatives that are owned nationally and stem from the consensus of the five institutions emerging from the political agreement, in line with the Security Council’s plan. This affirmation was made during his meeting with the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Libya, Hanna Tetteh, in Tripoli.
According to Libyan News Agency, the media office of the President of the Council reported that the meeting focused on the developments in the Libyan file. Key topics included the human rights track, the independence and free will of the House of Representatives, the legal status of the head of the Electoral Commission, Imad al-Sayeh, and the Commission’s adherence to independence, impartiality, and constitutional requirements.
During the meeting, Hanna Tetteh shared the findings and recommendations of the mission’s advisory committee with President Menfi. The media office also stated that Menfi assured his intention to communicate the outcomes of the UN mission’s advisory committee to the Libyan people.
