Tripoli: Presidential Council member Musa Al-Koni has urged the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Naji Issa, to reconsider and withdraw his resignation to ensure the continuity of the bank's operations and maintain its independence, unity, and professionalism during this sensitive period.
According to Libyan News Agency, in a letter addressed to the Central Bank governor, which was received by LANA, Al-Koni emphasized the importance of stability within Libya's sovereign institutions. He highlighted that the continuity in the leadership of the Central Bank of Libya and the regularity of its operations are essential to safeguarding the financial and monetary system's stability. This stability is crucial to maintaining confidence in the banking institution and preventing an institutional vacuum that could lead to extensive economic and social repercussions.
Al-Koni further expressed his concerns about the potential for the bank to enter another phase of political contention or uncertainty. He appealed to Governor Naji Issa to reconsider his resignation, stressing the national necessity of his continued leadership to protect the bank and ensure a stable transition when the appropriate conditions are established.
