Tripoli: Deputy of the Presidential Council, Musa Al-Koni, met with the Italian Ambassador to Libya, Gianluca Alberini, who conveyed the greetings of Italy’s Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, to the Presidential Council. Ambassador Alberini affirmed Italy’s commitment to developing cooperative relations with Libya across various sectors to benefit both nations.
According to Libyan News Agency, the Italian ambassador briefed Deputy Al-Koni on the outcomes of Meloni’s recent visit to Tripoli, highlighting her participation in the 30th session of the Libyan-Italian Business Forum. The visit resulted in several agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation in fields such as health, education, archaeological studies, and the economy, facilitated by joint technical committees. Italy also announced the resumption of flights with Libya and is actively working on the project to rebuild and develop Tripoli International Airport.
The discussions also addressed Italy’s initiatives with Libya to advance agriculture in the sou
thern regions and to resume projects that have been on hold for years. MP Al-Koni expressed satisfaction with the current state of Libyan-Italian relations, emphasizing that continued cooperation will benefit both countries and contribute to stability throughout Libya.
Al-Koni also expressed confidence in the new Central Bank administration’s ability to enhance the Libyan economy and overcome past developmental challenges. The ambassador reiterated Italy’s ongoing efforts to support Libya in resolving its political crisis, working with interested nations and the UN mission to achieve stability in the region.
