Tripoli: Minister of Social Affairs Wafaa Al-Kilani, leading the High Committee for Displaced Persons and Refugees, convened an extensive meeting to advance the implementation of the Prime Minister's directive concerning the reorganization of the committee and the specification of its duties and operational frameworks.
According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting included representatives of relevant agencies and focused on proposed working mechanisms aimed at enhancing institutional coordination. This coordination is intended to support the Ministry's efforts in delivering social services to targeted groups, including the allocation of grants to displaced persons and refugees to ease their living conditions.
The discussions also encompassed the committee's responsibilities and its involvement in formulating national strategies to provide practical and lasting solutions to displacement and migration issues. This includes initiatives to offer social protection and psychosocial support, thereby aiding in improving the circumstances of displaced persons and refugees and facilitating their voluntary and safe return to their original areas.
Al-Kilani highlighted the necessity for coordination among relevant government bodies and the reinforcement of partnerships with civil society organizations and municipalities. She underscored the importance of submitting regular reports and recommendations to tackle existing challenges and ensure the prompt disbursement of the displaced persons' grant.
