Al-Khitouni Calls for Strict Adherence to Security Plan for Tripoli Elections

Tripoli: The Director of the Law Enforcement Department at the General Directorate of Security Operations, Major General Abdul Hakim Al-Khitouni, convened a meeting with department members responsible for implementing the security measures for the upcoming municipal council elections in Tripoli.

According to Libyan News Agency, Major General Al-Khitouni underscored the necessity for strict adherence to the issued instructions, urging personnel to operate with the utmost professionalism. He highlighted the importance of enhancing collaboration with other security agencies and the High National Elections Commission to prevent overlapping of responsibilities. Ensuring the security of polling stations, regulating traffic, and facilitating voter access were emphasized as critical components of the security plan.

Major General Al-Khitouni reiterated that these efforts are integral to the commitment to ensuring the success of the democratic event, aiming to project a positive image of the security efforts dedicated to serving the nation and its citizens.

The meeting also involved discussions on the joint security plan formulated by the Tripoli Security Directorate and relevant authorities. This plan is designed to safeguard the electoral process, set to commence next Saturday, August 16, ensuring the safety of polling stations and the smooth conduct of the elections.
