Al-Haddad Engages with Russian Ambassador on Western Libya De-escalation Efforts

Tripoli: The Chief of Staff of the Libyan Army, Lieutenant General Mohammed Al-Haddad, met with the Russian Ambassador to Libya, Aydar Aganin, at the General Staff headquarters in Tripoli to discuss efforts aimed at de-escalating military tensions in the western part of the country.

According to Libyan News Agency, the Russian Embassy announced on its official page that the discussions focused on the activities of the Joint Truce Establishment Committee in Tripoli. The meeting also covered practical steps to reduce military tension and promote stability in Libya’s western regions.

The Joint Truce Committee was established through a collaboration between the Presidential Council and the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) after security incidents occurred in Tripoli from May 12 to 14.
